Elden Ring Smithing Stones: How To Collect Every Smithing Stone Bell Bearing

With a serious amount of hardcore boss fights ahead, finding out where to buy Smithing Stones in Elden Ring could be a very smart move!

Smithing Stones aren’t particularly rare or hard to find, but they are useful and valuable enough that it would be smart to start looking for the Smithing Stone Bell Bearings as soon as possible, after all Elden Ring is one tough game to complete.

Whilst they can be easily found throughout The Lands Between, these consumable items can also be purchased from the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold. To make them available with the Twin Maiden Husks you will have to offer them the Smithing Stone Bell Bearings.

In this guide you learn the location of the four Smithing Stone Bell Bearings and five Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearings granting you the ability to buy them all important Smithing Stones to help you progress.

Different Types Of Smithing Stones


Smithing Stone

These are used to upgrade regular weapons & shields up to +25 & can be used at a smithing table like the one located at the Church of Elleh or by visiting a blacksmith like Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold.

Somber Smithing Stones

These are used to upgrade unique weapons & shields up to +10 & can only be used by visiting a blacksmith.

There’s a couple in Elden Ring with the easiest being Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold or Smithing Master Iji, The troll blacksmith that you can find in the western part of Liurnia of the Lakes. Master Iji will sell you a unlimited number of Somber Smithing Stones [1] and [2] plus let you purchase a couple of [3] and [4].

Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 1 Location

Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel found in Liurnia of the Lakes, Head northeast of the East Raya Lucaria Gate Site of Grace to the cliffs edge, navigate the various platfoms down then follow the cliffside round to the left to find the cave entrance.

After finding the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel Site of Grace, make your way down the cave through the various Glintstone Miners & Marionette Soldiers.

This is a great early location to find both types of Smithing Stones with Smithing Stone [1],[2],[3] & Sombre Smithing Stones [1],[2],[3] located throughout the cave.

Once reaching the bottom of the cave its time for the boss fight against the Crystalian, by defeating it you will be given the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [1] After a quick travel to visit the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold and you’ll then be able to purchase the Smithing Stones [1] and [2].

Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 2 Location

Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 2 can be found inside a chest inside the Sealed Tunnel which is located in the Altus Plateau.

Sealed Tunnel Location - Elden Ring

Once entering the Sealed Tunnel you’ll find the Site Of Grace, head towards the left of campfire hitting the illusionary wall, Once through past the first miner bare round to the left of the flight of stairs dropping down to more miners. Turn right immediately along the side of the platform till you reach the chest.

To carry on through the Sealed Tunnel after collecting the Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 2 hit the second hidden wall behind the chest. 

Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 3 Location

Situated in the Mountaintops of the Giants area inside a chest in the Zamor Ruins.

The ruins are home to plenty of Knights of the Zamor enimies. Best engaged one at a time or avoided complety if your just after the Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 3.

The chest can be found underground with entrance found in the southwest section of the ruins.

Return to the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold for access to Smithing Stones [5] & [6].

Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 4 Location

You will get your hands on Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 4 as part of the main storyline in Elden Ring after beating the Godskin Duo at the Crumbling Farum Azula location.

The Godskin Duo can be found near the Dragon Temple Site of Grace. Just head through the doorway, down the hall & staircase into the giant room.

Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 1 Location

For the Sombrestone Miner’s Bell Bearing 1 you will be wanting to head to the Sellia Crystal Tunnel, Found in the Caelid region of the map.

Head to the northern section of the Swamp of Aeonia & enter the Sellia Crystal Tunnel. Climb the ladder & head down the tunnel into a open area with Glintstone Miners & Lesser Kindred of Rot enemies.

This tunnel is worth fully exploring as there is plenty of standard & unique smithing stones scattered through out. 

Once you have made your way round the tunnel you will get to the big wooden doors & face of against the Fallingstar Beast boss who on defeat will give you your first Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing.

Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 2 Location

Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 2 is located in the Altus Tunnel, south of the Minor Erdtree in the Altus Plateau region.

Head inside, down the elevator & straight through the tunnel picking up Smithing Stones along the way until you get to the big wooden doors again.

Upon entry you will have to defeat the Crystalian (Spear) & Crystalian (Ringblade) duo to claim your prize.

Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 3 Location

To reach Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 3 you will have to have made your way through multiple boss fights & locations, finally reaching the late game area of the Mountaintops of the Giants.

The Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 3 is located on a corpse outside the entrance to the First Church of Marika.

Use it to unlock the ability to buy Somber Smithing Stones [5] & [6] from the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold.

Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 4 Location

Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 4 is located in the Crumbling Farum Azula area after defeating the Red Giant boss at Mountaintops of the Giants.

After the Crumbling Beast Grave Site of Grace head along the sloped walkway, Very shortly after picking up the Smithing Stone [6] halfway along the walkway, a dragon will land, just run right past the left-hand side of it.

Upon reaching the Crumbling Beast Grave Depths Site of Grace head through the first two doorways turning right into the main area then head straight for the exit. The Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 4 is located on a corpse behind the Site of Grace.

Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 5 Location

After progressing through the Crumbling Farum Azula area you will come to the Dragon Temple Rooftop Site of Grace. Be prepared to get your skates on as this area is filled with some tasty enemies.

Progress down the red tiled rooftops & paths while being attacked by the birds & avoiding the red lightning being showered by the dragon, head to the left hand side of the dragon were you will find the Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone which can be used to strengthens armaments up to +25.

Now head behind the dragon, traverse the fallen tower into the small temple building. The Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 5 is located on a corpse behind the wolf like creature at the end of building.

Congratulate yourself Tarnished you now have the ability to buy unlimited amounts of Smithing Stones & Somber Stones to level up your armaments in your quest to becoming an Elden Lord in the Lands Between.
